The Last Pegasus
The Last Pegasus is a Brooks Brief political short story that uses mythology, history, humor, and political science to explore one deceptively simple question: What makes people follow a leader? Told through the eyes of the world’s last Pegasus, the story follows a mythical creature who has lived for centuries and witnessed different forms of leadership rise, flourish, and disappear. His extraordinary lifespan gives him something few political observers could ever possess: the ability to compare leaders across civilizations from personal experience.
Along the way, Pegasus encounters legendary and historical figures including Perseus, Hercules, Achilles, the Pharaohs of Egypt, Julius Caesar, Jesus Christ, and eventually Marcus Christ.
